Role of CBT in Depression, Anxiety, Family Counselling/Couple therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a type of talk therapy that helps to identify and change the negative thought patterns and behaviours that may be causing emotional or mental health problems. Once the negative thoughts are identified, the therapist can help the individual learn to challenge and replace them with more positive and realistic thoughts.
CBT is a widely used and effective treatment for depression, anxiety, etc. It focuses on increasing positive behaviour that brings pleasure to individual’s lives. Through this behaviour and activities, they can boost mood and energy levels.
CBT is very effective in treating Anxiety disorders. It helps individuals to identify irrational thoughts and fears and teaches them coping mechanisms for their problems and relaxation techniques.
In family counselling, CBT can help family members to develop effective communication skills.It helps for identifying and modifying dysfunctional communication patterns.
CBT requires active participation from the client. They need to be willing to explore their behaviours, thoughts and should actively engage in the process of therapy. Through continuous therapy sessions, family members learn techniques to manage conflict, negotiate compromises and build strong relationships.
